Dreams of Love on Valentine’s Day

This week, while paying $2 million out of court to the family of 24 year old Tonya Reaves to settle the case of her death due to an abortion in one of their Chicago clinics so as to avoid yet another investigation into the unhealthful practices of it’s industry, Planned Parenthood tweeted a message claiming that it’s costly and deadly products are what every woman wants for Valentine’s Day. NOT SO!  Abortion and contraception have never been the objects of women’s dreams of love.  While PP is pushing for more profits and claiming it speaks for all females, real women are letting us know what they really need: respect for their femininity, commitment, meaningful relationship instead of empty sex which demands they exploit their bodies with unhealthy drugs and devices to deny their life-giving femininity or destroy their own children. (Facebook page) Unfortunately, the true dreams of love which are represented by the gifts we give on Valentine’s Day are less likely to come true for many young women as a result of believing the lie put out by those who have abortion to sell, as this excerpt from the journal of one young woman expresses.

“In my generation, there seems to be a disconnect with our female identity - the result is loneliness and confusion. As a 28 year old virgin in the era of “live together first before you get married”, I feel isolated in wanting the exact opposite of that. Where are all the nice guys who believe that women deserve more than a live-in “try-out” to see if their relationship will work out before they decide to get married? What is the advantage of that? Giving away pieces of your soul to someone who hasn’t promised to love, honor and cherish you till death do you part? This lack of commitment robs people of their dignity.

The deepest hurt of any person is to feel that they are not good enough. For women, especially, this is a very profound longing – to feel that they are valuable. Giving ourselves away hoping that it will entice others to “value” us is not freedom at all.”
